‘Doctors of Ivanhoe’ is an independent private group general practice, located in the leafy suburb of Ivanhoe, approximately 10 kilometres north east from the Melbourne central business district. The practice is adjacent to a pharmacy and is well supported by pathology, radiology, allied health and local specialists with the Austin Hospital and Mercy Hospital just 5 minutes drive away by car. Ivanhoe is well serviced by public transport (trains and buses) and the practice is a 5 minute walk from the Ivanhoe train station and a 2 minute walk from a bus stop.

All doctors are experienced in the broad range of general practice care, from the newborn through to the elderly. Our doctors work in an ethical and responsible manner, in an environment of teamwork together with our experienced Practice Nurses.

All of our doctors have satisfied the training requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and are on the Vocational Register of General Practitioners. This means Doctors of Ivanhoe has a commitment to general practice and to continuing medical education.

Private Billing?

We are a PRIVATE BILLING practice. At the same time, all GPs at our practice are independent practitioners who decide their own fees.

Why should I pay a private fee?

At our practice, we passionately believe in providing access to high quality healthcare to our community. By becoming a mixed billing practice, we are able to meet the rising costs of running a practice to minimise wait times, retain high quality GPs, provide valuable consultations and facilitate services like Women’s Health so that you and your family receive the healthcare that you deserve in a family friendly environment.

How do I pay for my appointment?

All fees will need to be paid in full on the day of your appointment
Fees can be paid by, credit or EFTPOS
You will be required to pay the full fee for the consultation and then the practice will submit the claim to medicare on your behalf.
Medicare will pay the rebate to you within 24 hours.

No Medicare Card

Patients without a valid Medicare or concession card will pay a private fee and are not eligible to receive a Medicare rebate.

Major credit cards & EFTPOS accepted
Payment plans available with Afterpay and Zip for dental services
Some services can be claimed under WorkCover, CTP claims consultations, a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Mental Health Care Plan

Adjusted Hours
On some occasions we may have to vary our hours due to changed circumstances or doctor availability.
Each year the Clinic hours change to 9-5pm Monday to Friday the week leading up to Christmas and the week leading up to the New Year.

When our practice is closed, there are several options available if you require after hours medical care.
